Fairfax Monthly Pinball Tournaments at John's Place Restaurant
FMPT

This competition is held on the third Friday of the month at 8:00 PM.
The FMPT is endorsed by the IFPA and WPPR, so the top four players earn 2.08, 1.25, 0.83, and 0.42 rankings points each month, the rest of the top half of players receive 0.04 points, and all other players will receive 0.02 points just for playing!  There is also a raffle, for which all players are eligible, with giveaways from Stern Pinball and "Tilt: The Battle to Save Pinball."

The FMPT occurs at John's Place Restaurant, one of the premier Mid Atlantic pinball locations, in Fairfax, VA.  At the beginning of the tournament, players play matches with random opponents, game pick, and play order.   They get 0-8 points per match based on their performance, and then are ranked and split into small divisions (up to 5!).  The players play matches within their divisions, still on random games, but with selected play order and the top players in those rounds play for the division championship.  The top 2 in each division win cash and the winner of each division gets a plaque.

The entry fee is $10 (plus coin drop), and is all paid out in prizes.

IFPA 5 Tournament at the Pinball Hall of Fame
Las Vegas, Nevada
March 28–30, 2008
The IFPA is pleased to announce that after a 14 year hiatus, the IFPA World Pinball Championship is back!

Assuming we fill the field, the prize package will be over $13,000! Included in that prize package is a New In Box Stern Pinball machine for the winner donated by Stern Pinball, Inc.

HOW DO YOU QUALIFY TO PLAY IN IFPA 5? Unlike most tournaments where the qualification process takes place over a couple of days, qualifying for IFPA 5 is taking place RIGHT NOW! (and has been all year). Utilizing its World Pinball Player Rankings, the IFPA will use the January 1st, 2008 rankings to determine the qualifiers for IFPA 5. The tournament field will consist of 64 players.

The top 2 ranked players from each country as of January 1, 2008, will receive an automatic qualifying spot into the tournament. Should either of the top 2 players not be able to attend, that country exemption will move down the country ranking list until it is filled. The rest of the field will be made up of the most highly ranked players from the WPPR list. For players that cannot attend, spots will be filled by going down the rankings list.

For more information, visit their website or email.
